Bryn's debut in the Springboro Schools Newsletter!

CHARACTER EDUCATION AT CLEARCREEK
Kindergarten students learned about bullies, targets of bullying and bystanders during their guidance lessons in January. After reading The Juice Box Bully: Empowering Kids to Stand Up for Others by Bob Sornson and Maria Dismondy, students talked about the importance of helping others who are the targets of bullying and making sure they get help from a trusted adult. In the book, students in Mrs. Santiago's class sign a classroom pledge to treat others with respect, care for themselves and others in their class and stand up to unacceptable behavior. The students also promise to speak up for friends who cannot or for those who are not standing up for themselves.
Clearcreek students read and signed their own pledge and then decorated it. These promises will be displayed in the gym for all staff and students to view during Clearcreek’s February Panther Pow Wow.

Sleepy heads

Last night the girls were having a hard time going to sleep so Bryn came downstairs and asked for snuggles.  When I went upstairs, they both were awake and I couldn't pick one over the other so I decided to put them in bed together to snuggle each other...boy that was a HIT!  They snuggled and were asleep within 10 minutes...didn't even have to get on them to be quiet :)

100 Days of school

What else could they possibly think to celebrate?!!  Bryn's teacher asked that we send it a plain white t-shirt for them to decorate and then wear it on next Wednesday....which is 100 days of school celebration!  Bryn came home from school today showing us what she created to wear :)

Last update for the day!

Bryn's school did "Spirit for Life" week and each day they had a theme.  On Wednesday it was "mismatch outfit day" and Bryn really blew this one out of the water!  She got dressed all by herself and I must say she did better that I could even imagine!!!  She got off the bus that afternoon and said that she was chosen to get her picture taken with the principal :D

Update...Bryn's First basketball game!

At the first practice, Kyle and I were unsure how this basketball adventure was going to go.  Boy did she prove us wrong!  She picked up the game really fast and is enjoying the game!  She plays on a Kindergarten team for Upward...go Hawks!

And...ANOTHER update!

Do you think Bryn could keep the secret of how much fun it was to play outside and sled down the hill??!!!??!  NO!!  So, against my better parenting judgement, the next day Adelyn and I felt ok enough to brave it, bundle it up and have some fun!  And we sure did!  Sledding down the hill was AWESOME!

A BIG day of updates...still cont'd!

Of course, it snows a good amount when we ARE SICK!!!  So, when Adelyn was napping (at this point, it is her and I sick) Kyle felt Bryn was "well enough" to bundle up and play outside!  So, they threw some snowballs, sled down the hill out back, and came in to warm up by the fire!

A big day of updates...cont'd

Christmas day was exciting!  Santa delivered many, many, many gifts to Martini Ct!  The girls were so happy and eager to open each and every present!  It was really rewarding to watch them open the gifts they purchased for each other...they were grateful for each other for a mere second of the day! :) Amongst the favorites of gifts opened were the Scooby Doo van and crew, Twinkle Toes shoes, Doc McStuffins, Strawberry Shortcake remote control car, and American Girl movies and accessories.  Bryn struggled through it with a high fever...as it turned out to be the beginning of several days of severe sickness that only Kyle escaped!

A big day of updates!

Yikes...I have really slacked in posting updates!  So, let me start with Christmas Eve.  It was fantastic :) The girls got some fancy dresses and sang songs at our church service.  Away in a Manger, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and All I Want for Christmas is My 2 Front Teeth.  The girls performed great! We came home to sprinkle the reindeer food in the yard to prepare for Santa's visit!
