CHARACTER EDUCATION AT CLEARCREEK
Kindergarten students learned about bullies, targets of bullying and bystanders during their guidance lessons in January. After reading The Juice Box Bully: Empowering Kids to Stand Up for Others by Bob Sornson and Maria Dismondy, students talked about the importance of helping others who are the targets of bullying and making sure they get help from a trusted adult. In the book, students in Mrs. Santiago's class sign a classroom pledge to treat others with respect, care for themselves and others in their class and stand up to unacceptable behavior. The students also promise to speak up for friends who cannot or for those who are not standing up for themselves.
Clearcreek students read and signed their own pledge and then decorated it. These promises will be displayed in the gym for all staff and students to view during Clearcreek’s February Panther Pow Wow.
